“I Can Know How To Do It!”

This is the excerpt for your very first post.

“I can know how to do it!” said the adamant little three-year old blond girl grandchild of the ancient woman, while attempting to tie her own shoes. Like she was saying, “thank you very much no assistance needed here.  I am capable, strong and totally able to do this on my own”.  Any of you older working women out there whose years of raising kids and working drudgery were immediately brightened by a profound statement from one of the offspring of your offspring?

We get tired, you know.  Being the strong, courageous, broken-heart-surgeons, skinned knee bandage queens, last minute homework assistant researchers, science project idea generators and quick fuel frequent SpaghettiOs heaters; alongside our regular day jobs and relationship maintenance/management issues … over time, we slowly burn out, dry up, get wrinkly and gray.

Then all of the sudden, these bright young ones come exploding into our lives and make us feel young again.  This stubborn little three-year old taught me once again, we CAN and DO know how to do it.  We CAN know how to do anything we set our mind to do.  After all, we’ve been doing it for years now.  We are experts in just about every area of problem and crisis management where it relates to babies, toddlers, teens, assisting our children with support even after they’ve left home … Heck, I’d say our support just continues on and on into the future.

So for that precious insightful moment, I thought, “yeah, I can know how to do it TOO my girl”!  The blood flowing through my veins is flowing through hers too.  Even Grandmas keep knowing how to do it every day.
